Looking for computers to work on? Do you know where you can find more computers on campus other than in the library computer labs? Well, QUT actually provides computer availability on their website but it's kind of hidden. So there you go, click this link. The link will take you to the website shown above and you can click either "see availability" or "look for computers with particular software". Good luck with your exams and assignments!

This is a free service for students and staff of participate universities. There are 13 universities participating in the BONUS+ Libraries across Australia and New Zealand. Over 7.2 million books are available in these systems.. All books requested from BONUS+ will go through the central catalogue (http://bonus.newcastle.edu.au) to find the book you need. Requested items will be delivered to your preferred library branch without having to pay for any delivery costs. However, terms and conditions of loan vary, depending on different universities. Not only is this a vital resource because you no longer have to wait for the next book to become available, but you can also find books that were not originally stocked in the library. QUT doesn't have a copy of 'Gender Trouble'? No problem. Order it with the BONUS+ catalogue. Note also that using this free-of-charge service, can replace actually buying textbooks, which means more money for things you need. Since it's all a part of the university package, we should utilise all the resources we have on campus as we need them. Good luck with your studies! Below is a list of all the participating libraries:
Tips from SaeWith any kinds of engineering, being able to present and justify your argument is the key to be a successful engineering student. Writing, research, and referencing skills are needed to back up your argument. While you can acquire these skills from the library workshop, I'd like to talk about engineering-specific tips.
When writing, be concise and simple. Comparing to other disciplines, engineers dislike sentences that are irrelevant to the topic and they dislike reading unnecessarily long assignments. I have had units that take marks away if the assignment is too long. Another tip is be aware of the plagiarism. Many students swap assignments for checking but this is plagiarism, and even if you "borrow" your classmate's idea that's also plagiarism. We have had so many students that failed in their 3rd or 4th year because of these issues. Do not share your assignments and do not copy anyone else's. Click here to see the library study support Click here to see other student support that are available at QUT Article by Sae Find more about Sae QUT Library website is one of the most helpful resources for any QUT students with their study. I will show you few things that will probably be helpful for you to succeed. If you put your cursor on the "Learn" tub, this is the menu that you see. This is where all study support websites are sitting. First one is the Cite and Write. Cite and Write has two sections, citation section and writing section. QUT cite shows different types of referencing styles and examples. You will see how to cite textbooks, journal articles and websites by looking at these examples. Now, keep in mind that these examples are just examples. If you are unsure of anything, go speak to your tutor or librarians! QUT write tells you how to write report and essay. Especially the report structure on QUT write will be very useful for you if you write a lot of assignments. Next one is the Study Solution, the 20 minutes consultation with academic advisors. If you feel you need some extra help with your assessment or time management, this is the place to go. You can get about the same help as what you get at the front desk too but the desk can be busy sometimes. This appointment will secure 20 minutes and is bookable online. You can book as many as you need but make sure you turn up to the appointment and not miss it! Next one is STIMulate, the Maths, Science and IT drop ins. You can drop in anytime when they are open and there will be other students who get good grades to tutor you. Sometimes it can be one-on-one help or group help as it can be busy sometimes. See their web site to find out where they are located and their opening hours. Studywell is an online resource where you can find tips of different things like understanding your tasks, note taking, and literature review. It is difficult to find these type of resources all in one place. Also some topics are available in different forms, powerpoint, video or pdf. You can look at the areas that you think you have difficulties with from home! Next one is the Subject Guide. There are different pages under different subjects. Some refer to the particular unit but most of them refer to general topics like accounting and engineering for example. If you have no idea about, say.... "transport engineering", just visit the transport engineering Subject Guide page. There you will see the list of textbooks, useful databases and good websites to see. If you are lost with research, this is a good starting point. Next tips is to signup for library workshops. They run various workshops for both undergrad and postgrad students. All you have to do is to log in using your student number and password, choose the workshops that you are interested of attending and register online. Be mindful that their workshops are super popular and get filled up quite fast. My advise is to just register first because you can always cancel your booking online. The last thing I want to share is the Peer Advisors. They are students who are doing well at uni and they sit at the front desk with librarians. They wear green polo so you can recognise them straight away. They are experienced uni students and will be able to provide practical advises on your assessments or anything that you're concerned of. Great way to get help from other students! All of these services are shown on QUT Library website, http://www.library.qut.edu.au/
